[ It's been a month. It's been more than a month. It's been a month and a week to the day since she summoned Lewin here from Assiah and received confirmation from the NRL that this is, in fact, her Lightning.
It's been more than the bear minimum amount of time for his time and consequentially his memory to catch up with him and while Setsura can be a very patient creature, well -- ]
Did you remember yet?
[ -- well, she isn't feeling terribly patient. She's been checking her device since the second, jumping to answer any call. In fact, there wasn't even a beat between the time he answered and her asking that question just now.
[The memories have been filtering through, a flash here, a thought there. Nothing coherent, nothing solid yet.
Her username is what does it, somehow. Everything snaps, crystallizes in an instant. Like a summoning, pulling a demon from Gehenna and in an instant restoring memory and self.]
Sorry for the wait, Set-chan! [He says, with a bright grin.]
[ She doesn't realize it at first, how rapidly the moisture is gathering in her eyes. She doesn't cry often or easily. Can count the number of times she has in the past five years on one hand, but her vision is blurring and that intense heaviness that's rested on her is splintering and scrambling and she's reaching to swipe at her eyes because that wet sensation is irritating and he's grinning at her so brightly and he said -- ]
Lewin-kun, you --
[ -- and it's probably a good thing she has her device leaning against something or there's a very real possibility that the thing would be crushed as tightly clenched as her fists are in this moment. ]
You're really late!
[ If she raises her voice a little -- and oh, she's already reaching to grab her device with the intention to march to the nearest window. ]
What are you going to do about it? I've been waiting, you know!
I'm never late, I arrive precisely when I mean to! [He says, as if he's quoting something.
But on second thought, is she... oh.
It bugs him, for some reason. This sudden surge of... attachment, or something, that he feels for her means that he doesn't like he way she swipes at her eyes, that she shouts.
He's still teasing, but his smile isn't quite as bright.]
[ He says that as if he's... quoting something? But what, she isn't quite sure and the image on her end will be blurring a bit as she swipes at her eyes again and pauses in hopping the ledge of the window.
Is she...? ]
Nippon's summers are hot and humid. It's just a little moisture!
[ And that isn't a lie, but that question is in and of itself somewhat startling to her. The last time she cried -- she doesn't want to think about that. Presses past it, what that might mean, that too loud pounding in her chest as she attempts to suppress something like a sniffle. ]
Where are you?
[ Like she isn't already sensing, feeling him out as she stirs previously occupied familiars about this world to help answer that question. ]
What, don't you got a little bird watching me right now? [Of course he's teasing her. He's noticed her familiars, with that sort of meaningful attention that he hadn't quite understood until a few moments ago. There isn't one on him now, but he'll stick around right here until she finds him.]
[ It's a look she levels at her device and a curious sound he may hear in the instant before she cuts the feed. Something like splitting flesh, but who could tell? It's audible for barely two seconds, then the screen is black.
And he'll hear it before he sees it.
At first, it's just one small, pitch black bird that alights and turns an eye on him. Then another and another until there's a small flock perched above in the shade of the branches and leaves of a nearby tree, hopping and chirping in what many might perceive some ominous way that might seem somehow foreboding when the wind stirs and swells ahead of a certain hanyoukai, a pair of small, elliptical pitch wings beating fast and surprisingly quietly at her back.
The blood's dried, at least.
Her boots touch the ground and she's a whorl of colors, stepping quicker and quicker. She doesn't think twice, pushing off from the ground, her arms outstretched. ]
[ Since the moon business drew to a close on the thirty-first and their housemates' return from the West, Setsura has managed to sleep relatively properly for the first time in a month. She's slept. She's observed what the NRL is up to this month and had time to think on it amid preparations to properly open the Kennel this month.
Sorry, Lewin. They're out there, giving your wife ideas like -- ]
It isn't quite to the day, but November is the month we first met and with all this talk of speed dating for kizuna research the NRL is doing, it got me thinking.
I want to go on a date with you. It can count as an anniversary, can't it?
I didn't mean I wanted to go on a speed date date. I want to go on a date with you that doesn't qualify as homework. It doesn't have to be anything extravagant.
Please?
[ Setsura Light said "please". Somewhere, a world is ending.
Well, maybe not, but it's a rarity all the same. ]
[ It's a good(?) thing this is text. Setsura blinks rapidly upon reading that message, her cheeks flushing a very distinct shade of pink. She doesn't doubt her eyes. They're far sharper than that of a regular human, but for him to say something like that is... ]
[ Maybe give her a moment that doesn't constitute a bit longer than it would normally take her to reply to a text. It's strange, but not unwanted and she isn't entirely sure what to think of it. It almost sounds like... ah, but that's silly, right?
[ She knows he's home. Doesn't have to send the question ahead of herself because she senses him, his energy, the soul to which she's mutually bound and of which she's more acutely aware than she was before they contracted in December. He hasn't moved an inch since she left to meet with Yukio and that isn't the least bit surprising to her not simply for her sixth sense and their connection, but the fact that her Leaf is lazy.
He's more than that, she knows. He'd told her shortly after they met and she's seen and experienced him in certain ways since then, but she doesn't know everything. It wasn't his intention, but Yukio had reminded her of that today with his revelation and Setsura has questions, the least of which is -- ]
Lewin, are you awake?
[ Nevermind that she's sending that question ahead from beside the front door where she's presently hopping out of a boot. ]
[ The lack of a response doesn't discourage her. Once her boots neatly placed beside the door, Setsura heads to the living room. Rather than cross it, she pauses in the threshold and leans against the doorframe, watching Lewin quietly for a moment. Her eyes flick to the piles of books, scan the various tiles, then return to him again.
There's a chance he might get cranky at her for interrupting his research, but it's a chance she's willing to take given the subject at hand.
She doesn't call him again. Rather, she strides behind the couch and slides over the back of it into the tiny space between him and one of his piles. She's upside down, legs dangling over the back of the couch. A book or two might dislodge and fall over, one atop her chest, but she doesn't mind.
No, she's reaching to... tap him on the nose. Yes, there is a serious conversation pending, but he's no less her Leaf and she's not about to do the amount of twisting it would take for her to wiggle into his lap. ]
I just got back from meeting up with Yukio-chan. He wanted to apologize about certain things from the other day. There were certain things he wouldn't apologize for, though. Things he said to me that day that he only partially explained today.
[ Her smile drops, but doesn't quite turn into a frown. ]

Took you long enough! [He laughs, as she leaps into his arms.
Sorry, Setsura. He hasn't showered in a while. Or washed his clothes. Or even changed them.
That doesn't quite explain the... scattered black feathers in his hair? Weird.]
